DR. LISA SOSIN

I am a licensed mental health professional based in Virginia. I use research-based knowledge and skills to help people reach their personal growth goals. 

I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from the State University of New York, my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology, and my Doctoral degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. I am a licensed professional counselor, a limited-license psychologist, and a board-approved clinical supervisor. I am also certified in Formational Leadership, which integrates contemplative spiritual practices into soul care for those who desire to focus on spiritual growth.

Serving in the field for over 35 years has been a privilege. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. For the last 16 years, I have also been a counselor educator, training emerging counselors and counselor educators to provide best practice-based services, a role that I find particularly fulfilling. 

For several decades, I have devoted considerable time to equipping clinicians, physicians, educators, organizations, and clergy with a deeper understanding of mental health. I have developed doctoral and graduate-level curricula and community programs covering diverse subjects. Although these are many (I certainly can provide you with my Vita if you are interested), I especially enjoy the creative and expressive arts in individual and group counseling (talking doesn’t always help), evidence-based treatment (did you know that therapy, when done well, is as effective for mental and social health concerns as medical interventions are for physical concerns?), identity development and re-development, and emotion development and regulation.
